Capabilities · In-house materials procurement
In-house procurement for tighter federal schedules.
SIS began as an industrial supplier. Our own procurement desk still sources long-lead materials for every project we build.

What we do
Many contractors wait on distributors for long-lead items. SIS buys directly through relationships built since 2002 with manufacturers of valves, fittings, hose, process piping and instrumentation.
That supply history includes federal supply contracts for Army TACOM, Rock Island Arsenal, Navy NUWC, the Air Force and USACE, and about 80,000 tons of riprap for the Rock Island District.

Schedule
Why procurement matters on federal construction
Equipment and material lead times now drive many federal schedules. A pump, switchgear lineup or specialty valve with a long lead time can set the completion date before the first shovel goes in the ground. Contractors who identify long-lead items early, get submittals approved quickly and order immediately finish on time; the ones who wait do not.
Federal projects also require compliance documentation, such as Buy American Act certifications, and approved submittals before installation. Doing that paperwork in the same office that places the order removes a common source of delay.
