Working on the rivers
The Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers carry commercial navigation through a system of locks and dams and are lined with levees and drainage districts that protect farmland and towns. The Corps' Rock Island and St. Louis districts maintain this system, with continuing work on bank protection, levee rehabilitation, drainage structures and lock and dam facilities.
